Cultivate Some Creativity!

This is one virtue a site must possess to lead the race in the ruthless competition in the Internet based business. With so many competition and rivalry going on, every method of marketing must be employed and utilized.

It doesn’t matter if you have a killer product or a fantastically designed website, if people don’t know that you exist, it doesn’t matter, and you are not going to make it big. Worse of all, you business could just get killed.

While there are so many methods and schemes used by so many e-commerce sites today, there are still some of those that can help you with an extra boost in the popularity ratings. One of these is the so called Viral Marketing.

While the term Viral easily depicts a virus, a word very much dreaded by all computer owners, it is not what it seems. You do not actually use a computer virus to spread your business; on the contrary it just might kill you. Everyone has had enough of all those pop up ads and spywares.

Viral Marketing Overview

Viral Marketing also known otherwise as Viral Advertising is a marketing technique used to build the public awareness of one’s product or company. They use many forms of media to reach out to the public without actually promoting the product by riding on in other forms of addictive means that could get a person hooked and be obliged or amused to actually pass it on, with the product or company advertisement along with it.

In a nutshell, companies ride on the idea that if people like the content of a media they will pass it on to their friends and family. They sponsor the certain media, such as a cool flash game, funny video, amusing story and such, which one may pass on to another with the company brand or logo or the products description or any other content to help promote the company or its product.

Viral marketing has become a popular means of advertising and marketing because they are relatively low cost. To avoid being tagged as spam mail, viral marketing counts on the eagerness of one person to pas on the product. If a person sees the name of the person they know as the sender, they won’t block it and open it as well.

Many companies offer incentives such as discounts and rebates when they help in spreading their viral marketing. They rely on the number of recipients a viral marketing gets from one person in determining the amount or number of incentive they can be attributed with.

Using Viral Marketing to your advantage

The main and foremost advantage of viral marketing is that you get a lot of publicity and public awareness about your site and your company. You get to generate a flow of traffic that are potential customers. With a little ingenuity and imagination, plus some incentives or prizes, you can reach out to a great number of people and announce your existence.

Most every site and companies are catching on to the effectivity of Viral Marketing and Advertising. Not using it could kill your business. Along with other schemes and methods in promoting your site, like Search Engine Optimization and such, viral marketing could easily push you ahead in the rating games.

Viral Marketing could be a sneaky way to get people to know about you and your company. You get them to pass your advertisement along. They are also very low cost that not investing in it could be downright a business suicide. All it takes is a great idea, a good addicting game, a funny story many ideas are still out there. Create a gossip or a buzz, many movies are promoted by using scandals and gossips to make them moiré popular. Remember the movie “The Blair Witch Project”?

Many big companies have tried viral marketing and have had many success stories with it. A classic example is Microsoft’s Hotmail. They were the first known big company to utilize the scheme and it has worked wonders for them.

Now it’s your turn to use viral marketing to work wonders for you. Act now and reap the benefits Viral Marketing will provide for you and your sales figures.

If you’ve heard about this new blogging software called Firepow around the web, you’re not alone.

Firepow won’t be released until July 1st, but I thought I’d post about it here with all the information I can gather for now so that you can stay well informed up until it’s launch

Basically Firepow is a blogging software but with a whole lot of features stacked on top of it… features that seem to make it a pretty darn interesting little (or big) tool.

It’s based on wordpress, and begins by installing you a nice wp blog - in fact from what I can tell, REALLY nice - you can create your own blog theme from scratch if you want, with the advanced theme generator and then select from a list of all the plugins under the sun, to have installed and activated on your blog with no further action from you.

Then you can go about adding your content - you can set the content to appear on schedules, including into the future, plus you can take advantage of other people’s content via various means not disclosed yet…

It also seems to have a focus on video content but I’m not quite sure in what capacity yet - in any case, more relevant video on your site can only be a good thing - oh and as well - they just released that there will be an “add camtasia video plugin” so you can easily get camtasia vids on your blog without using youtube… which if you’re in internet/software niches is a BIG plus.

Anyway after your blog is looking good with all the cool content, Firepow helps you generate traffic and promote your site around the web. At the moment the only traffic tactic I’ve seen is the promotion of your site through an in house network of blogs owned by Andrew which you can use to obtain links and a few extra visitors.

I’ve also heard mention of social bookmarking and rss feed promotion but we can’t be sure about what capacity these tools take.

Finally Firepow apparently lets you manage your sites too. You can view and make changes to your multiple sites from the one control panel, as well as monitor certain aspects of them.

One plugin we saw released was one that allows a user to split test variations of posts you make to see what generates the most click throughs. That alone makes this product exciting for me.

Even though what we’ve seen so far seems only a fraction of what this software will be capable of.

If you want to check out more of Firepow for yourself, click here.

RSS is a huge part of the Web 2.0 phenomenon that is taking the web by storm. RSS provides an easy way for people who are interested in your content to subscribe to your site and have it delivered to them. Internet experts cannot even agree what the letters “RSS” even stand for. You get nearly equal votes for “Rich Site Summary” and “Really Simple Syndication”. Whatever the letters stand for, RSS is a tool that every blogger should be using to gain publicity for their site, and to keep interested surfers regularly reading your content.

The key to RSS feed internet marketing is to provide content which people will find interesting enough to come back and read regularly. This is the great problem bloggers all over the world face. Getting top quality content written at an economically viable price is by no means easy. There are many writers on freelance sites quoting very low fees, but often the quality of the work, and of the service, is not up to the standard needed by professional businesses. Some of the top businesses can take control of the situation by employing their own writers outright, but that is beyond the scope of most of us when we are starting out.

There are now even ways to incorporate RSS feeds into a type of email marketing replacement strategy. Marketers who have become ever more disillusioned by deliverability problems associated with email marketing can use an RSS feed to deliver their content with far greater reliability. The big problem with this is that a lot of computer users who are completely comfortable and familiar with using email struggle to understand RSS.

As Web 2.0 becomes ever more commonplace, these problems should recede, and RSS will have an ever more important role to play in content distribution. There even exists the possibility of using RSS feeds as part of paid content distribution, using RSS as a replacement for email due to its greater reliability. This is a serious possibility for the future of RSS feed internet marketing.

Using Digg for driving traffic to a website is controversial. Some people claim it is not even worth doing, yet others have had massive success with it. Digg seems to be like this, extremes with very little middle ground.

There is so much importance attached to getting on the front page. If you can manage to get a story on to the home page of Digg, then you can expect to receive thousands of extra visitors to your site. It really is worth shooting for if you have any chance of making it happen.

You will need to submit your story to Digg, and then rely on other people to vote for it. This is what is known as a “Digg”. You will need a good number of votes to have any chance of making it to the home page and picking up the thousands of extra visitors.

It has been estimated at over fifty, and it is unlikely to ever get any less, as ever greater numbers of people are using the site, yet the amount of space remains the same. If you can get someone else to submit the story, or if it happens naturally, that is so much better, and will give you a much higher chance of getting the votes you need.

If you want to give your story the best possible chance of being voted for, you need to attract the reader’s attention quickly. This means that having an interesting headline and description is of paramount importance. There are plenty of competing articles, and the reader can’t read them all.

Give them a compelling reason to read yours. It also makes a difference if your content is fresh and relevant. If you are writing on topics which are current and hot right now, your chances of getting votes increases enormously.

Don’t forget also that readers are more likely to vote for something which is of genuine use to them, so if you can produce an article with genuinely helpful information in it, you will certainly gain votes.

What is it that really made YouTube different from other online video sharing websites?

It was the right site, at the right time. At a time when broadband internet is the norm and social networking was beginning to explode on the internet, YouTube gave users a new way to communicate. People now have an outlet for their creativity, any message they want to share, and a way to share information through video online. Combine that with the social networking sites like Myspace or Facebook — that allow users to link to YouTube videos — and YouTube is becoming a pioneer in the way people share information. For the first time, with a simple video camera, anyone can post videos of whatever they want for free.

Founded in 2005, YouTube quickly became one of the hottest sites on the internet. Today the site serves up over one hundred million videos a day. According to the research site HitWise, YouTube can claim over 46 percent of the entire online video market. Considering that site was started by three twenty something techies in Silicon Valley, and then sold to Google for $1.65 billion in late 2006, it is easy to see how the site has started a revolution in the world of online video.

Originally thought up as a video version of the website HotorNot (a pioneer in websites that allowed a user to upload content) YouTube’s founders quickly realized that users were uploading whatever content they wanted. People were uploading videos and linking to them from their MySpace sites. YouTube piggybacked on the explosive growth of the social networking site to become the biggest online video site on the web today; MySpace continues to be the greatest source of hits for YouTube according to HitWise.

It was probably a number of factors, and smart decisions by it’s founders that allowed YouTube such explosive growth. It was one of the first sites that allowed viewers to watch video from the site with no special software. The decision not to place ads before videos also contributed to the sites success. Probably the largest factor though was how easy the site is to use. A user can register, upload their videos, and it is so easy your grandmother could do it. The combination of the easy and edgy feel to the site fueled its growth to where it is today.

Today the site serves up 100 million videos to users worldwide each and every day. From simple messages uploaded by users to professionally produced videos, you can find almost anything on YouTube. Some users have found fame from their crazy antics in amateur skits. A couple of users have even garnered professional television contracts from their YouTube videos. The site really has become a phenomenon in the world of online video, and social networking.

It will be interesting to see how YouTube, and other sites like it, continue to change the way we communicate, the way we advertise, and mostly the way we share ourselves.

In the 20th century, people got inspired to write their own articles and diaries online. This phenomenon is now been referred to as blogging.

Currently, there are news blogs, tech blogs, sex blogs, commentary blogs, drug blogs and other teenage blogs. The news and documentary blogs are sites that consist of links and posted arguments and ideas.

These sites have been sources of major news outlets, media and traditional journalism. On top of these all, the blogging phenomenon is clear and real. This occurrence is gradually changing and unifying the diverse world of media. Blogging only proves the evolution of media and journalism.

Blogs can do things that eMagazines or web magazines cannot do. Blogs are informative and contains more of personal matters about the author’s life.

Through blogging, a writer is able to express anything even his temper can be transparent. Blogs contain deep sensibility and human touches unlike magazines and newspapers.

Nowadays, readers have become more doubtful about the media. People now realize that behind the curtain of these popular readings are untrustworthy writers and editors. They write to live and thus, their writings are only products of their selfishness.

Blogging is the real democratic journalism as its best and as its purest. Through blogging, one will be able to declare his own independence. Lone bloggers will eventually be the most successful writers in the envisioned world of true journalism. This is because they earned the respect of the readers.

Online sites like blogger.com help you set up a web page can make you an established writer. At the start, you can work at a blog free and then eventually you can reach millions of readers worldwide and can make a profit as well. Blogging challenges the audience of opinionated magazines and traditional newspapers.

Now, why not create an online blog with your own ideas and consequently sell your own book through your web site. The advantage of the blog technology is that one can simply write an article with himself and can make a profit for download services.

You can just convert your format to a PDF file. You will not anymore need editors, agents or publishers for your book.

These are some basic steps to create a successful blog:

1. Select a location to begin your blog. It is best to choose a site where you can upload your blog on to it directly. Sites like Blogger and Wordpress are two of the popular ones.

2. Prepare at least three (3) articles per week and add them to your blog. Remember that articles must be posted in the blog. As much as possible, a blog should not be used for product advertisement.

3. After posting, make use of the available ping online servers fully so that many can read your articles. The use of limited default ping services will limit your blog exposure. For a complete list of available ping servers, you can check sites like surreal blog.

4. If the readers find your articles interesting and your services proved to be useful, you now become a reliable resource. Thus, it would be best if your blog contains a shortcut link back to your home or main site.

5. Next, you should add your blog to your home site. You can make a directory containing the list of your blogs. Find a service to post your information if in case you do not have a main site. Do not forget, at least to acknowledge the server.

6. Finally, list your blog to popular blog directories. Some of these directories can charge you a listing fee while some offers it free. It is fine to pay for it since it will largely benefit your blog

These steps can guide you through your blog making. It is hoped that this article provided significant ideas and information about blogging. With this technology, you can now have the power to tell your stories and express yourself.

Spyware is computer software that is installed stealthily on a personal computer to intercept or take partial control over the user’s interaction with the computer, without the user’s knowledge or consent. Unlike a computer virus, spyware does not directly spread in the manner of a worm. Generally, an infected system does not attempt to transmit the infection to other computers; the issue is contained to your local system.

Spyware normally interferes with networking software, which commonly causes difficulty connecting to the Internet. Spyware, along with other threats, has led some Windows users to move to other platforms such as Linux or Apple Macintosh, which are less attractive targets for malware. However these platforms are not full-proof so don’t fall into an out of sight trap. They will reach your system by exploiting security holes or are packaged with user-installed software, such as Limewire.

Spyware is often hidden alongside other programs, and you may unknowingly install spyware when you download a program from the Internet or install software from disks.

The scariest part of being attacked is the privacy implications, as spyware can also gather information about e-mail addresses and even passwords and credit card numbers.

Not only can spyware programs collect various types of personal information, but they can also interfere with user control of the computer in other ways, such as installing additional software, redirecting Web browser activity, or diverting advertising revenue to a third party.

Microsoft has an entire Windows Update site devoted to automatically updating users’ systems with all the latest fixes and patches for a wide range of Microsoft software, including Windows, Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), and Internet Explorer.

Anti-spyware software programs can be used solely for detection and removal of spyware software that has already been installed onto your computer. Anti-virus software can detect many but not all forms of malicious software before they have a chance to affect your computer. Anti-spyware applications must also be able to remove programs on reboot for spyware/adware that refuses to be removed through normal processes. Of course, anti-spyware applications alone can’t protect you entirely from unwanted spyware and adware.

For example, recent test results show that bundled software (WhenUSave) is ignored by popular anti spyware program AdAware, (but removed as spyware by most scanners) because it is part of the popular (but recently decommissioned) Edonkey client. To address this dilemma, the Anti-Spyware Coalition has been working on building consensus within the anti-spyware industry as to what is and isn’t acceptable software behavior.

Another form of spyware is Adware, it’s similar to viruses in that they can be malicious in nature, however the focus now is money as people are now profiting from these threats making them more and more popular.

Anti virus programs are so very important so all of you using the internet daily should most definitely check it out more thoroughly very soon.

If you are setting up a new site online, one concern you may have is picking the right programming language. Having set up a lot of my own sites, let me share with you what I’ve already learned…

First of all, if you are trying to find the perfect programming language when you are developing your site, you need to realize that there really is not a perfect programming language out there. Once you get a good grasp of this, you’ll find it easier to look for a language that does the best job of serving your needs. However, before you choose one particular language, the following are a few things to consider:

- The budget you have
- The server software you are using
- The server platform you use
- Your experience in programming
- Your database for the backend

Your platform is the operating system that you are using on your system, and your operating system plays a big role in the programming language you decide on. There could be some unforeseen problems that occur that lead to you changing your OS platform, and this can be difficult. Usually the best choices for your operating system include POSIX-compliant unix like systems and Microsoft Windows.

After you choose your OS, then you will need to pick your server software. If you have a Windows system, then you probably have ISS, which is installed free with the Windows program. It has been known to have both security and performance problems in the past. Some of the web servers that POSIX-compliant Unix-like systems can be used for Windows as well, such as the Apache web server.

There are many programming languages out there that are free; however, some may have a licensing fee as well. While commercial products will cost you, they do have the advantage of coming with support. So, if you want to set up your site easily with very little problem, then you may want to go with a commercial solution. However, if you don’t have the money for these choices, free languages can be used, and they are still quite powerful.

Some of the most popular programming languages that are used for sites include PHP, C, C++, Perl, C#, ColdFusion, ASP, and Java/JSP. Each of these languages have both pros and cons to them, so you will have to take a closer look at each one to decide which one is going to be the best for your needs. Sure, each one has some problems, but if you can separate which one is going to work best for your individual site needs, you’ll be sure to choose the right one.

Irish teens, brothers Patrick and John Collison, have just reportedly sold their ebay application auctomatic.com for a tidy sum. They describe auctomatic.com as ” a tool for managing your eBay business. Use Auctomatic to track your inventory, pictures, and auction templates, and track the traffic on your auctions so you can optimize your listing strategy.”

They describe there partnering with Live Current Media of Canada as a way to, “help us build out our vision of what a trading site should look like.” So for all those aspiring mega millionaire internet entrepreneurs the dream is still a reality!
